Chicken day: keeping chickens in your garden and on your allotment (Local Food event)

Whether keeping chickens at home or on your allotment, keeping pet chickens can be rewarding and these workshops will help you get started.

11am: Meet and greet Lorraine's Chickens. Meet local chicken owner Lorraine Jackson and her chickens! Pet and stroke the chickens on site. Ask Lorraine how she looks after her chickens in a small Oxford garden.

2pm: Learn how to keep chickens at home and on your allotment. Local author Julia Hollander will be launching her new book Chicken Coops for the Soul and will give a talk about chickens - their housing, food, health, social habits, weeding abilities and more. Julia will also advise on the legal issues around home grown eggs.

There will also be face-painting for children from 2pm-4pm, and refreshments available. *Between now and 15th June, you can also enter a competition to win an eco-friendly hen house.
