A mix of easy to follow songs & chants from various Indian traditions, all of which have different flavours - some more tuneful and uplifting and some more deep & grounding. Most have guitar or harmonium accompaniment, and sometimes other instruments show up as well. We also favour the non-pitch perfect experimental approach and spend some of the session just making the sounds that want to be made, with no structure or accompaniment, seeing where it wants to go. We also love to sit and absorb the echo for a while after making sound.

It's a great opportunity to relax, enjoy your voice and make sound without the pressure to get it right or be musically great. There are also many known health benefits and good reasons to do this, and it's also a lovely way to hang out with community.

Donations to good causes. We provide refreshments. No experience needed.

MEDITATION: ‘Followers of the Heart’

image

Meet: Run over four Thursday evenings in November. November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th from 7.15pm to 9pm.

Description:

A Meditation Course

In front of the warm fire in the cabin of the community gardens, gathered together will be both those who are fresh to a mediation practice and also those who want to deepen their existing one. It is recommended that those attending come to all four evenings as the course is sequenced. The course is not based on any particular style or tradition. The simple intention is to help further the opening of our natural willingness to deepen our exploration of ourselves and everything. As well as guided meditation, there will be the opportunity to share experience with all it’s joys and all it’s difficulties, so we can learn from each other.

The suggested donation for participants is £40. This is to help the running of Barracks Lane. Any excess funds will be donated to charity. Concessions are available. No one should feel precluded for lack of funds.

To make a booking and for further information, please contact Derek Elliott - details below.
