Wednesday 1st August 2012
It's out with the old and in with the new this month. The old coordinator, Julieanne, finishes at the end of July and our lovely new coordinator, Jenny, will be taking over from early September. We will be checking emails throughout August so you can still get in touch with us as usual.
Facebook The garden has a new and improved Facebook page! See: https://www.facebook.com/BarracksLaneCommunityGarden. We would LOVE you to like it, to tell your friends and to add thoughts, blogs, photos, articles etc. So do visit the page - we look forward to seeing you there.
New phone contact! Email is the most efficient way to contact the garden (firstname.lastname@example.org), but if you need to call, the garden now has a new phone number for when you need to contact us about something really urgent. It's 07729 655 543.
Changes to the website We have also been doing more work on the website. Links to our Facebook page have been added, and we are now able to list news & events as individual items. This means it will be easier for you to find info about a specific event more easily. In other news - Despite threatening and eventual pouring rain, those of us who made the DinnerTime event on 14th July had a great time. Photos from the event on our Flickr album. Our thanks to the Headington Community Chior Joined up Singing for another lovely performance on the day. There is still plenty going on the the garden during August. Coming up this Saturday, the
Permaculture group will be meeting to start design plans for the first Incredible Edible Oxford venture. From 2-5pm on 4th August, the group is open to all, you don't need any specific skills to take part.
Kangaroo will continue to meet each Wednesday during the summer holidays, so do drop in between 10:30am-1pm.
The Yoga group will also continue to meet on Tuesday evenings at 7pm.
There is also the monthy Upcycling session on 16th August, Indian Devotional singing on 17th August and the Gaia group meets on 8th & 22nd August. For the gardeners out there, the gardening group will be meeting on Saturday 11th August.
Elsevier volunteers The garden was pleased to welcome 9 volunteers from Elsevier in early July, who did a wonderful job of painting preserve on the outside of the cabin to help it deal with our unpredictable weather more effectively. It even managed to be a sunny day! We thank them very much for their work, and you can view pictures from their activities on our Flickr Album.
Fabric for cushions The garden is looking for some good quality thick fabric (i.e. from curtains) that we could use to re do all the cushions in the cabin. If you have some you could donate, please do drop it by the garden any Saturday or Sunday when the garden is open.
