Jenny leaving...and Coordinator Vacancy at the Garden

Jenny Ekelund, the Garden's Coordinator will be going on maternity leave in June and the Trustees are looking to appoint somebody to replace her in this freelance role. Full details are given below:

Service Specification Project development and administration Barracks Lane Community Garden is a thriving garden at the heart of a growing community, based in East Oxford www.barrackslanegarden.org.uk.

Following a 4 year, successful grant from The National Lottery- Local Food, it has further funding until February 2014 from Supporting Change and Supporting Impact. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and with project management, outreach and administrative skills. It would suit someone living relatively locally to the garden who can work from home, independently on a self-employed basis, and who likes flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

The Garden needs someone organised and efficient and with an interest in the aims of the community garden project to provide the following services on a freelance basis:

Project administration - publicise and promote events to the wider community - respond to email correspondence and deal with bookings enquiries - manage the online calendar and organise the garden guardian rota - attend trustees meetings once per month and take minutes. Supporting Change and Impact Projects - organise workshops and help manage events - develop new business models and partnerships - develop social media, communication and online booking systems - enthuse, motivate and refresh our garden guardian volunteer scheme - outreach to the diverse local community to promote the garden - increase and develop the use of the garden - reporting progress to Local Food Programme - Identify and make applications to new funding streams.

Hours: Initially averaging 50 - 60 hours per month, but with the potential for more work depending on the outcome of funding bids. We have funding for these services until February 2014 and the contract will be reviewed and renewed as appropriate every 3 months.

The rate of pay is £12.50 per hour invoiced monthly in arrears Work to start in June 2013 Applicants will need to be able to email and phone from home or own office base.
