Barracks Lane Community Garden is a thriving project based in East Oxford. The Project has been successful in gaining support from the National Lottery and Local sources of funding and have unrestricted income available from events. We are looking for someone to be responsible for practical gardening, garden development and some maintenance, and take an active role in engaging and working with the community in our projects and at our events and workshops, and via, but not limited to, our Garden Guardian project.
We are looking for a part time, self-employed person. The contract is for one year initially to provide the equivalent of 19 days on-site care-taking and gardening services, some of which will be on Saturdays or Sundays.
The ideal person will have gardening experience and some practical skills e.g. carpentry and general repairs. You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and be a great communicator. Via the Garden Guardian project you must be able to able to work with our volunteers and welcome visitors to the garden, ensuring that the physical space is beautifully maintained and secured. You must be enthusiastic about involving the community in our projects and take an active role in leading workshops.
Contract Value: £2280 per annum (19 days @ £120/day). The work will be undertaken on a freelance self-employed basis and the contractor will be responsible for his/her own tax and national insurance.
The start date for this work will be from April 2021 for 12 months but subject to a 3 monthly review.
