Visiting the Garden

Visiting the Garden is free as are many of the events taking place there. We do however rely on donations to keep the Garden open for everyone. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult. The Garden operates a safeguarding policy which can be read here.

How to Find Us

The Garden is on Barracks Lane and can be accessed via Cumberland Road, off Cowley Road (not the Holloway end). Go to the end of Cumberland Road, turn left onto Barracks Lane. The garden is situated in the corner where the Barracks Lane road meets the Barracks Lane footpath.   There are regular bus services to the Cowley Road from Oxford City Centre and Blackbird Leys, the nearest bus stop is Howard Street. The streets surrounding the garden have restricted parking. In some bays you can park for two hours and others four hours. We ask that you do not park outside our neighbours directly adjoined to the garden. If you can, please park by the allotment.

Opening Times

The Garden has an open access policy allowing everyone to enjoy it all year round. When the garden is supervised by volunteers you can drop in at any time. When the garden is unsupervised you will need to fill out the online booking form and collect a key. The Booking the Garden page gives you information on how to do this.   March to October: Normally the garden is supervised and open to the public some weekends, subject to the availability of volunteers and the Community Engagement Gardener. Outside of these times you will need to fill out a booking form and collect a key.   November to February: The Garden is open during this period for specific events, workshops, community groups and individual bookings but it is not supervised at weekends and you will need to complete the online booking form and collect a key.
